I made a component in my model for easier editing, now I no longer need it as a component. How do I get it back to standard geometry?

right click->explode, nothing too strenuous

If you explode the instance in your model, the component will still remain in the file. Go to your component browser (Window menu), navigate to "In model" and purge it from under the popup menu triggered by that little, blue icon next to the search field.
OR keep it for later.
