Google AdSense- does it generate money?
-
After the discussion about ads in the forum I started thinking.
Does anyone know if you actually get any money from these Google AdSense ads?
How does it work?
How many clicks to receive a dollar?
How are you paid?
All info I could find seem very vague. -
1 - Yes - I get a little from a tiny niche site - enough to pay my very modest hosting fees but not much more. Some people make a lot from AdSense but most, like me, make very little.
2 - Google acts as a broker displaying ads on your site based upon key words where ever possible every time a page is displayed.
3 - it depends on your site and how much the advertiser paid. You can get paid per click and by CPM (advertisers bid per 1000 ads - cost per mile).
4 - Google send you a check or deposit your money in your account. -

Yes, Pixero. As I suggested in that very thread, AdSense Ads can pay enough to support forums when used effectively - well, depending on the cost though of course.
Pushpullbar.com is a forum slightly larger than SCF but with considerably smaller bandwidth due to its attachment limitation (makes the world of differences), and it's entirely supported by AdSense now.
There, its members are not expected to click ads - but non-members are. I think it takes some time to figure out how AdSense really works (I cannot say I do, though) but it literally pays if you do. -
Yes, I think on PPB there are (more) ads displayed to "Guests" (not logged in). Maybe an effective way to "encourage" logins, too.
Google never reveals which click and which ad pays how much however so it's a bit like lottery, too.
