I just bought a Macbook Pro and I am a first time user. I use AutoCAD and had to partition my hard drive to run it in Windows through Bootcamp. I will be using my layouts in AutoCAD with SketchUp. Would it be best to download SketchUp on the Windows side or on the Mac side of Bootcamp? I'm looking for convenience and quality as well. But what will be most suitable for me? Thanks for your input -
SU on the same partition as ACAD, will allow you to put both applications up at the same time, both running as fast as they can.

I use a Macbook Pro and run SU on both sides for ease of use.
With SU having a free version, there is nothing to stop you doing this.I don't use Bootcamp though, I am using VMWare Fusion which allows me to switch instantly between Windows and OSX which is a great help to me.
I prefer to work as much as possible on OSX and do as little as possible on the Windows side, although probably the same as you, I need AutoCAD.
It works really well switching by using Spaces in OSX. A quick flick of the mouse splits my screen into windows and I choose the one I want to work on, then do the same to instantly switch back. -
Hi Dylan, Running ACAD in OSX/VMWare will always be slower then running it in a windows partition. Since SU runs equally in both, the deciding factor may be the speed Stephanie need ACAD to run at. Stephanie, you will never get everyone to agree on how to select a primary OS, but in this case, you have the option of installing it both ways, so that you can decide for yourself.

I realise it does not run as well in VMWare or Parallels, but for the 2d drawings I am working with, I come across no problems.
If things were to get much heavier, I would have to use Bootcamp, but the ease of use of being able to instantly switch between operating systems far out weighs any performance hit for the ACAD drawings I'm currently working with.As honolulu says, try it both ways, although vmware does cost money!
