Is there a selection tool similar to autocad's "window/crossing polygon" or at least the "fence" selection tool?

Haven't found one (though I've never had much luck finding what I'm looking for) but would be especially great if there was! Thanks in advance for your help, Tom.

I use autocad, but I'm unfamiliar with what you mean I think. I thought that was just the typical cad right to left will select only entities that are entirely within the selection window, while left to right will select any objec the selection window touches. What would the selection fence be beyond that?

This may actually a display issue, that I had, where the selection tool will not create the bounding box.

Try turning off hardware acceleration (Window -> Preferences -> Hardware Acceleration).

          See if that helps.

The standard autocad selection is indeed a rectangle...but you can qualify that selection with "crossing or window polygon" to select multiple corners for an irregular selection shape: thus the ability to select only the desired entities along a diagonal (or a u-shape or whatever). "Fence" is another qualifier that uses a poly-like line (in any direction and number of vertices) as a crossing selection entity.

Wouldn't such be quite useful in SU? Is it possible?

Shall I take it this is impossible in SU?
