How to make Color Lists

Hello,
This is a probably a newbie question. We are wondering if you can make a list of materials that are all colors and not image textures. We are asking because we have tried and we cant seem to make a list of colors. Help please.

Once applied, any color can be edited, then saveed as a material to be reused, so I do not understand the question. Can you be more specific?-), or provide examples?

Hello,
Sorry for not being clear with our question. We work with a mac so our materials manager doesn't look like the one in windows. Here are a couple pictures that I hope will clarify what we are trying to do.
Here is a file with a couple color materials, we try to make these into a library by selecting new list.
Now we are making the new list we name it test and hit ok
Once we hit ok we go to another material library such as brick and then try to go back to our test library and this is what we find.....Nothing
