File sizes

I have 3 different models, of differing complexities. I would rank them in descending order: bungalow, shellback chair, garden on wheels. But the garden cart was 5300 kb, too big to download (I included a jpg.) The chair was under 1000 kb, and the house was 2900. Is there something I'm doing to cause this variation? I know it's hard to answer without the garden cart model, but the only complex geometry in the model is the wheels. I did purge the components & layers.

I'd guess the texture images are large, hi-res files.

I'd have to agree with Jim, it's likely to be the image(s) you used for the materials. Also, you may have need to purge styles.
If you look at the materials in your Shellback chair, you'll see there are a bunch that appear to be unused as well. In fact when I purged that file, I eliminated 3 components, 18 materials and 7 styles. That reduced the file size to about 650Kb.

Jim & Dave,
Yes, that was it. I used a downloaded lumber file and adjusted the color using the color wheel. Not sure if it was the original texture or my changing the hue that caused the jump in file size. The file is now under 1 MB.
Thanks for the help.

It was probably the image file to begin with. This past spring, one of the woodworking magazines did an article on SketchUp and offered as an "online extra" some wood grain images. They were nice images but way too large to use as is. Use one or two of them in your model and the file size would jump considerably.
Glad you got it sorted.
