Dwg landscape

I get a terrain 3d file to work in SU.
Anybody with good ideas how to manage this for further modeling? The object has a lot of entities and is not really clean. The dwg file is about 1,8MB and the SU file has 3,11 MB after smoothing.How do you use such dwg files for SU?

Take a look at any of the YouTube Videos Daniel Tal has done. I would start with this one from the 2007 3D Basecamp it should get you going.
He has also published a book that covers the full range of terrain modeling tip and tricks with SU.
