Modellers needed for short film project

roguerobot,
I see it is your first post and so you may not have seen Pete's work. I would take him up on his offer:

Where did he go? I was looking forward to following this.

"Zee rocket is ready for fueling..."
Seriously though, I can say without reservation that this is the largest(size) thing I ever tried to model.
I started on the rocket but found a really nice one on turbo squid for a good price. I still haven't done a final smoothing-- I am waiting to figure out how the rocket separates.
Haven't found any good drawings or elevation so the launch pad was done from photos and google earth. The angles of all those gantries has proven to be a challenge. This image is as much a massing study to figure height and proportions of all the different pieces. Depending on the camera angles I may go back a re-do parts. I need to add some detail to the deck, its kind of barren, but it is starting to take shape.
It has been fun to research, you actually have to figure out how this thing worked.

Flames & smoke are really hard to do
-
Here are some smoke and fiery smoke if you need, I can make any effect if you need using particle effects.
These are .png, but if you need .if or .avi animations I can do it too. -
I'm just doing the modeling for now, but I couldn't help trying to make it fly. Thanks for the offer-- I'll leave it up to the Producer to decide what is next. I still need to finish the launch site.
If you hadn't looked he has a ggod start at the launch and re-entry in his test animation on the web site.
Thank you for the flames and smoke, I'll put them in the mix to experiment with. It helps to see them as a flat png, I was having trouble getting volume.

Hello
Apologies for not posting earlier!
As you see, Museum Maker has been doing some fantastic work on this and for that he deserves mountains of praise.
Thanks to Solo for the particle info. I'll end up using Particular in AFX for the smoke animation, but if you're still interested in helping and would like to model the Vostok capsule, please let me know, because Museum Maker is chomping at the bit to give it a go.Thanks for everyone's help. I'll keep you posted...

Thanks Chris, this is really fun.
These are two of the controllers, and there wan't too much else to control the capsule.
The one with the globe actually has a gyroscope that "works" is the SU model -- I faked it with a face me globe. It actually feels like it works.

In honor of the anniversary of the first landing on the moon I thought I would post this space capsule.
This is the same capsule the Russian Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, flew in 1961. Spartan even by early Apollo standards, he was lucky to get back alive, many early space pioneers did not.
