Silver_Shadow, Thank You. Thanks for the model. Thanks for the description of your technique and finally thanks for taking the time.

Top notch. May I humbly suggest putting this up at CGTalk?

Thank you very much for the work you spend this community too. I love to see what's possible with SU and makes me feel it is the right choice.

Again, brilliant work and thanks for sharing so much of it.

Something I have always been curious about Jacques, did you model your avatar? If so, was it in SU or another app?

The avatar is just an image, but could be cool to model it ๐Ÿ˜„

with that type of machine work to move such as complex geometry and models?

I have areally standard machine, 2 gig ram ddr 667, pentium dual core 3.4 ghz, gforce 8600 gt, windows 32 bit xp. My pc actually need a desperate upgrade to i7 but i dont have the money for this upgrade now. Too much other important stuff than this.

The amount of detail is absolutely stunning and I want to salute you as such a monstrous amount of work needed to complete this beautiful ship would of scared me. Congratulations for you effort to prove incredible things can come out of this program if used with passion and dedication. I'm scared to think what could top this.

first of all i want to say that this is an awesome tribute to your father. The dedication you put into these models of yours are something to behold.

It's a shame we wont be seeing anymore eye candy soon but dude, you definitely leave us on a high note.

I have just tried to download the files from the link you provided.
But I am getting the message "This user is out of bandwidth".

Obviously there has been a fantastic demand (surprise, surprise!) for your work.
Can you supply new links so I can download them?
                        Thanks.

                        Regards

I didnt see this thread until now.
Wow! And extra plus for all the w.i.p. images. Just incredible detail.
A question: Didn't you have any problems with SU/Vray getting it to render?
I know I have problems when models get to complicated.
                            The water is also amazing.

i bought this cool plugin, scene exporter, and this allowed me to set up a main model, and the made 3 separate files with portions of the model in. Then imported those scenes, and rendered them. Because it has less information to handle, it did render nicely and quite big, 3000 pixels. So in photoshop, i just opened my 3 renders, put all 3 renders on top of each other and cut it out with the alphas. Is really fast. It does render longer tho, but at least it rendered.
