Push me tool help

I am another newbie - probably my question has been answered before - but I have a curved shape I want to use the "push-me" tool on. Trouble is when I zoom in I see it is all a bunch of lines that are not connected. When you zoom out it is a smooth looking curved shape. Other shapes in the design are "connected" and can be "pushed" but this particular curve can not. Is there some way to connect, weld, combine or whatever the terminology is to make this curve able to use the "push-me" tool on...??

My best suggestion is to post a copy of the model to the forum, so that many can review and suggest the best action. If you are not comfortable in doing this, perhaps a JPG image, or a more complete description.
On the face of what you stated, I will tell you that a curved surface--or one that is not flat--will not push pull. If you wish to transform the surface you will have to move it. If it is connected to other geometry it will stretch all connected. If you do not like the resulting deformations of the surrounding geometry, use control z to undo or click on the menu bar and find undo. You can copy the curved surface by selecting, invoking move, then pressing control to make a copy independent, then place it where you want it. Then comes the knitting. Draw lines from the parent geometry to the child geometry until faces close the gap.
Best of all, wiser heads than mine will respond to set you straight, if this response is not sufficient.

The model attached would definitely be of help to find the problem, until then we cannot do anything just guess.
My first guess would be that in that particular curve, the faces are very tiny (say some edges are smaller than a millimetre / about 1/16") and SU has problems with filling faces like this in. It's particularly apparent when you use some methods which should generate faces automatically (Follow me and intersecting are such actions).
The general "workaround" to fix this is to scale your model up proportionally (depending on the "real world" scale) say by 10 or even 100, do the follow me action and when finished scale it back down by 0.1 (or 0.01) accordingly.
Now this was a long explanation for a simple guess and the people above also had to guess so please, provide the model otherwise it's going to be a pain to trouble shoot.

Lavelle, the image doesn't say too much about the size of your model so if the problem is what I suggested above, it won't be any help.
Say if the diameter of the whole shape is within a couple of centimetres (about an inch), the issue can be what I suspect. In this case, use the workaround above. If the shape is about a couple of metres (yards), there is something else.
So to say; we aren't any closer to the problem and solution than before.
