Bigfoot (updated)

Fantastic images. The only issue I have is with the Bigfoot image. I just don't see what the flying insect adds to that picture.
-
nice work pete, vue is looking great, but rather how you deal with it. looking forward to the plants pack
[edit] hope there are some low poly trees in there (if there is such a thing!!)
-
Awesome pete...keep pushing it further because these are amazing

Its a device to help bring the viewer into the scene. And with any device (sunset skies, for example) it needs to be done in such a way that it brings the viewer in, but does not distract/detract. I like the bug, but it might be too visible. Perhaps it is close in the foreground? It is the only thing that is about 5 feet (1.5m) from the camera. The ground seems to be cut off about 15ft (4m) from the camera. Maybe the bug just needs to be pushed back a little bit.
Or maybe not. Maybe its just fine where it is. It doesn't really bother me that much.

Great work. My only crit is that Bigfoot is a Ford truck not a Dodge.

Very Nice Work!
What do you use in both pictures for the grass and sand? Is it geometry? texture? both? Is it part of VUE or part of your sketchup model? -
Halroach, it's all geometry, no images used.
All done in SU (except trees), only rendered and textured with Vue, the grass and plants are created in SU and used as an ecosystem in Vue. The ground is a node based texture with slight displacement.

Is that animation coming along some time, Pete?

what's the right answer? , yeah, you see...um, well, hmmm. dunno.
I'll get around to it, soon-ish.
anyway, another image, I'm concentrating on terrain and integration of roads, paths, etc.

It is incredible the beautiful thinks that you can make with Vue

Yeah, i can see very little shadow problem on the limit of the road and the terrain...
Great renders! Waiting for more!

I honestly thought that last picture was a photo at first glance Really excellent job!
...I always wonder how to make good renders, but maybe its not something a person can learn - or is it? What goes thru your head when creating a render scene? Composition, lighting, shadow effects? Is there a place with tutorials where I can learn this skill/art? -
Marcus.
Tough one to answer, knowing the ins and out of a rendering app is paramount, but that is just a portion of a good render. I'd like to say it takes a bit of skill and lots of practice.
Hanging around these forums also helps a ton as well as posting your work and getting positive responses and constructive criticism.I have many failed renders, many bad models, the trick is learning from your mistakes, learning from the masters and most of all enjoying what you do.

Fine rendering Pete. Just suggesting some more polys for the road...
-
Wow Solo! The last image is very nice and realistic.
-
What is the meaning of a node based texture? and what then is a non node based?
-
Could you post some wireframes and other types of shaded images to further demonstrate how you did these renders?
Thanks!

i like the first image the most. love it. The last image is also good, but the road looks a bit funny on the edges. hey i love your vegetation you are using on the sides of the road. Vue have some great ecosystems, presume that is not a standard eco system. Hee hee you should do an arena with this monster truck jumping 9 wrecked cars, lights going off as people takes photos. should be really cool.

i wouldn't like to get too close to the edge of that road......flip, flip, crash, burn
