Mechanical design

Hi guys
Anyone using SU for mechanical design work ?
if so, what work flow do you use eg dimensioning etc..Andrew
-
Curious because SU can be also used for mechanical design work

Just careful of the boolean operation between Circles, Arc circles, and other volumes due the Polygons natures of them! -
I was lucky enough to be able to attend the 2008 SketchUp basecamp. One of the presenters was Mitchel Stangl, who is a mechanical engineer. He works with extremely large and complex models.
The video of one of the sessions, (and he gave a couple, the other was using sketchUp and autoCad together.) ishttp://sites.google.com/site/3dbasecamp2008/all-sessions-2008/working-with-large-models
There is also a pdf of notes on this session at the bottom of the screen when you open the url. I think you will see the potential of using SketchUp in your field after watching this. All basecamp videos are at: http://sites.google.com/site/3dbasecamp2008/

Look for Bob ("Watkins") topics here. He does this and has posted a couple of impressive examples in the gallery.
