      Hi Sam,

It's just like modelling your truck; plunge into rendering and no matter if it looks crap at the beginning, believe me that if it's been made by you, you'll value it much higher than if you ask others to do it for you - which is what you mean here, not really a "challenge" as the title says, don't you?

A challenge is generally either much more a "community project" that everyone (or at least quite a few) are interested OR something for which a (possibly valuable) prize is set. So how much would you put in for this "challenge"? 😉

              Hey there,

Took a look at the thread because I am intrigued at looking at challenges when they are running.

I agree this isn't a challenge, but, looking at Peterbilt's profile it says he is 7 years old. He may just not understand. I have seen some of his other requests for renders too. No need to give up Peterbilt, but, this might be some encouragement to start learning some rendering. I am just learning too, but if you are making these models at 7 years old then when you are an old man like me you'll be cranking out some awesome stuff.

Don't be discouraged, just use this as an opportunity to learn.

              Peace,

              Jon

Easy, boy, don't get pissed off s easily. I've seen many very impatient youths of your age who eventually, when chilled out finally and started to deal with modelling/rendering, created excellent results.

Would you believe that Jon - with these excellent models and renders - is around your age as well?

(I don't even paste any more here since he has some two pages of topics on this forum)

                  Patience, practice and again,practice.

OK People this is just my opinion here so please let's discuss it like civilized board members.

OK so maybe Peterbuilt is asking too much to have board members "render" his models. But let the "Board Members" make up their own mind. if you as one individual board member don't think making a rendering of his models is your cup of tea then don't...it's your choice. If you think he's being greedy and asking for too much than send him a private message and give him your private opinion. There is quite a diversity of members here and this type of "collaboration" should be encouraged and not shot down in a flame war that ends up with a contributing member leaving.

Anyway I hate to see squabbles that end up with members threatening to or actually leaving.

I do hope that he decides to return and take a lesson away from this exchange, likewise I hope we all can learn form this dialog and also learn to temper our posts such that the end result is not the loss of a member. Just think back to the good old days of @last and your first foray into Sketchup. I for one had a lot of questions at the beginning and made many requests and asked for members help figuring out stuff...we all had a learning curve. Let's not cut off the bottom rungs of the Sketchup ladder we climbed such that new learners don't have the ability to ask and receive the same assistance that we had available to us when we were beginners.

If Peterbuilt is 16 than he's way ahead of what I was doing when I was 16, I think I was still riding a Schwinn bicycle and mowing lawns I don't think I even knew what a computer was at that time.

Well I'll get off my soap box now.

                    Regards

                    Phil

                        Peterbilt

It would be a waste to leave this community over a difference of opinion that will be forgotten about in a week or two. Choice is yours, but if you want to learn, just toughen up a bit and stick around.
