exactly like the relationship between the red and green pushpin in the texture positioning feature, where u can move the red "origin" pushpin to define a new point about scaling/rotation

I think there has to be one more click

1 define anchor point on base object
2 define anchor on target object (co-relate)
3 define reference point on base
4 define reference point on target.

hi chris, no the 2 anchor points (base and target) would be sitting on top of each other, also i wouldnt want the second object to be considered, merely its snapping point ie no: select object, select target. its more of a rotate with scale, exactly like the relationship between the green and red pushpin in the texture position feature

But it needs to have a reference point on the base shape to know how to scale and rotate it.

Another alternative would be click on the anchor of the base shape and drag to the reference.

Then click on the anchor of the target and drag to its reference.

            That might also work.

            Chris

Ok, the first image made me think it was move + rotate + scale. My mistake, I see it now. Yes, three clicks would suffice.

I think its a great idea.

It would be interesting to control each axis (x, y, z) individually.
                  Or all axes at once

                  sorry for my English
