Can someone tell me the basic differences between the free version of SketchUp and the Pro version? Just wondering if it is worth the upgrade for my purposes.

      Thanks,

If you're new to SU,I'd definitely suggest to try out the free version first. All themodelling tools are available in the free version as well so first learn it and then you can still decide.

The following things are "extra" in the Pro version:

        • exporting to other 3D and 2D vector formats

        • ability to edit Dynamic Components

        • generate report of used components (new in SU 7) - thanks Remus for reminding

        • two additional programs:

        • LayOut, a 2D presentational and documentation tool

        • and StyleBuilder to create custom, sketchy styles.
If you want to try the Pro version however, you can install it on top of the free version and after 8 hours of work, it will simply "degrade" to the free version but once you decide to buy a license, you can enter the key and go on using it as a pro version.

I think report generating is pro only, as well, although it relies heavily on dynamic components, so if your not going to be making lots of DCs it probably isnt too important.
