      Hi,

I am student of Landscape Architecture and new to SU. I have a project to create a zig-zagging boardwalk (with different elevations, ranging from 0'-6') over a series of marshes. How does ones create boardwalk, with balustrades? Thanks for any suggestions!

        Hi and welcome.

I would draw vertical lines where the changes in level and direction are. Then join the points together. Then map the walkway sections with sandbox. Then you could use the joint push pull ruby plugin to give the walkway some thickness. Then I would use the copy along a path plugin to place the balustrades.

        Joint Push Pull: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=6708&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=Joint+push+pull

        Copy along a path: http://www.smustard.com/script/PathCopy

EDIT: oh and weld would be useful as well: http://www.smustard.com/script/Weld

I'll try and put a quick TuT for you as well

EDIT: here is the tut but it is very basic.

The SU file on the bottom of my first post is the tutorial but as I said before it is a quick and dirty guide. I suggest you look through it and then have a play around yourself and get used to the new tools.

The main thing is have fun and you create something great.

I can't wait for your posts in the Gallery.
