Outliner..good but not great
-
Is it me or just the way I use this feature in SU.
It seems Outliner has lots of potential but it too quirky.
It crashes SU frequently, when I click on a sub group, it jumps, expands all sub groups and I have to re orient where I was.
Why is this not simple, easy to use and like what we are most familiar with...an outline of the model?
Is this a bug, a feature worthy of working the way it does, or am I doing something wrong?
thanks for your insights and experience.

Dear Red,
Nope, the Outliner needs a lot of work. However, it is useful for highlighting groups and components. If you select a group and right click then you can name/re-name, lock, hide etc. So it is good for that. With the Entity Window open, click on a group/component to show the number of groups/components with that definition name. By selecting 'expand all' (menu at top of outliner), clicking on one group/component will highlight all those groups/components with the same definition name. To select a part for editing and/or to see where copies of that part are lodged, then double click on a group/component in the list, but first go to Info Model>Components and activate Hide against Fade rest of mode. Unfortunately, one cannot scroll up/down the list using the up/down arrow keys, which is really annoying.

my biggest gripe with OUtliner is with nested components and being able to hide rest of model, but still reveal the parent of the nested group/component being edited. That seems to me a very easy thing to do, and I mentioned it here a lot, but it doesnt get a lot of play. I guess it's just me.
