Transparent background
-
I've been searching around and can't seem to find any info on making .png appear with a transparent background. Does anyone know a past thread or willing to explain it real quick? thanks!

You mean exporting an image as a .png from SU and have the background be transparent? I was under the impression that Mac's just did it automatically. If you have sky and ground color set in the styles manager, maybe try turning them off. Does that help?

i mean creating an image in photoshop that when i import as an image has transparent background. so i don't have to make a detailed selection in PS to cut it out? is that possible?

Sure that's possible. On a PC, the process is to open an image. Then look at the layers window. There should only be one layer showing, the layer of your image. On a PC, you have to double click on the layer name, and then click OK to change it from a locked background image to an unlocked layer that you can edit. Once its unlocked, use the photoshop tools to select what you want to delete, then delete it. Once you've deleted everything you want, save it as a .png image and it will save the transparency automatically. Then import into SU as a 2d image. It should come in with the transparency in-tact.
Then trim the face in SU if you want. Sometimes this is desirable to help the image cast better looking shadows.
