i am not able to give a hight when i extrude any face.

Hmmm, generally the series of commands should be this:

1. draw face
2. select push pull tool
3. click the face
4. move it up a bit and click to end
5. type in the height you want and hit enter

if that doesnt work, in what way is it not working?

What kind of unit do you use? Is it a "." or a "," for decimal numbers?
