Hello everyone!! My name is Murkin and I only picked up Google SketchUp7 2 days ago and I am loving it!
So far I have created 2 models from scratch and I would just like to see what other people think of them 😄

I really had fun making this model... That's all I can say really 🙂 feedback is appreciated!

This was my first attempt at making an object (not including the vid tutorials on the sketchup website.

        Hi Murkin and welcome.

This is great modelling if you have only been using SU for three days. Even for two weeks (or months)!

There are a couple of things however. Inside the guitar, you have some extra geometry you won't need - see attached image: whatever I selected, could be deleted (the top face currently hidden). Also, you should reverse the outside, rounded face of the guitar (right click > Reverse faces) so that only white ("front") faces can be seen.

As for the chest,it's also cool but you should get used to using groups/components so that you can easily open it: 😉

Keep up with the good work and post, post, post... 👍

Thanks Gai! Did what you said and now it looks great, I can even open and close my chest now 😄.
But there is one other thing, how do you find the geometry that you don't need inside a small model after it is completed?

            Hi Murkin

            Some small help

Something we forget very often: Outliner (in Window Menu). Starting to use it at the early beginning will help you to sort and to navigate easily into complex shapes. As Gaius said, try to work with Groups and Components, then if you have to modify a selected one, click it on outliner to select it and even if it's deep into the drawing's hierarchy, you'll find it immediatly. Better, you can move groups into Outliner in the same way you do with files ( You decide for instance not to attach group "clasp" to group "wood cover"), even you could hide selected groups ....(mouse right click)

I've made a short modification, hope it helps.

Well, I rather try to do it "on the fly". When you create a profile on the edge of the guitar with the Follow me tool, you will know that there'as a face inside that you won't need. Delete it immediately.

Or in this case, I just "opened" the guitar by removing its top face and found what I found inside. X-ray mode and unhiden geometry can also help finding these unnecessary pieces of geometry.
