Need a little help, light going into section

hi, i want to view shadows within a section but keep getting light and shadows that have been cast from outside, i cant move into the space to move into the space as it is too small is there a way to put up a wall u can see through that will block the light from going into the section?

You can use a totally transparent PNG image for the material. By that method you can create a tarnsparent face that still casts a shadow.

Here is a totally "dummy" material file with a 1 pixel x 1 pixel,totally transparent png image set as 1 cm x 1 cm texture. Use it as "dummy shadow caster" in cases like yours. Not that in the "In model" prewiew it may appear as black for some reason.
