Restore Default Material
-
Here is something I have always struggled with. When an object or especially a component has been painted with a color or material such that that new material replaces the default material. How does one get that back. When I keep selecting the Default material, no change occurs because that material has been replaced? Anyone else have this problem?

Hi David, that should work. You should be able to just choose the default material in the material browser and paint it back onto the model.
Remember though, there can be a trick if its a component or group. If the inside geometry is painted with the default color and you paint the component itself. It will paint all default material faces inside the component with the new material. Going inside the componeont and re-painting with the default material won't help any more because it is the outside component shell that has the material applied to it. So you would get rid of the unwanted material by painting the component bounding box with the default material.
I think I made that sound significantly more confusing than it is. Did any of that help though?

I think I got it. And I think that is precisely where I have screwed up. I will play around with it. Thanx for the reply.

also if you delete a material from the material editor it will ask you if you want to replace it with default material.
