Trouble ending a 'Move' command
-
I am an old time engineer/manual draftsman. Just learning SK.
I have trouble ending a 'Move' command. I've tried left click(s), right click(s), ENTER, even ESC. Nothing seems to end the selection, and I proceed to move the mouse and distort the whole selection. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Roy, hi folks.
Try to follow these steps:
1 - Select the object to be moved. In case it is a whole house, select all of it.
2 - Select the Move Tool.
3 - Grab the selection by a significant point. A good candidate would be a lower corner. Click on the endpoint to grab the selection.
4 - Move the selection to its new position and then click to set it there.
I suggest that you read the help about the Move Tool and also the chapter about SU interface and concept and also about the Dimension box known as the Value Control Box in revision 6 and lower.
Just ideas.

I would add to this as auxiliary procedures the following:
Use the keystrokes "Ctrl T" to deselect any items currently highlighted but may not be visible on your screen.
Also, hitting the spacebar puts you into select mode for such things as moving and so forth. Using spacebar and Ctrl T helps me verify that I am not going to accidentally involve too many entities in my next procedure.I suggest when you use the selection box, whether all inside or crossing, before you make your move, you orbit around the model to check what you have selected.
And, of course, if the results of your last edit are unsatisfactory, use Ctrl Z to undo.
Best Wishes,

Hi Roy,
If your problem (after placing the moved item) is that it is still selected and whatever further thing you do with the Move tool will still move (and distort) objects, just press Esc(ape) to get rid of the next move and select the Select tool to click somewhere else so that you deselect what you have just moved.
