Animation help needed
-
Wow, that sounds complicated. I've been searching for some animation and came across with sketchphysics and some powerful plugins for sketchup animations.
Coz actually I want to do an animation like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4DLjSir2EM or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Szraxc4-HI..
Do you know what plugins or addons (hopefully free ones) I should have?... Or simply how can I do something like that in SU?

The second one I am sure you can do using scenes and/or proper animation (http://morisdov.googlepages.com) but the first is more like I want to make - actually controlling the movement and speed of entities.
Bon chance!

Hey thanks for that! that's great for me now. I will probably use that plugin for my simple animation.
However, I don't know where to get the tutorial. I saw the one at youtube but I think that's the only one they have. Does the video really have no sound? I don't quite get the instructions. I can't wait to learn. It looks simple! I dont mind reading how-to-do's, but i cant find any.
Anyway, from the example in the video (the motorcycle being dismantled) it seems like it can animate objects like the 1st video I shared, no? (as in I can move the objects..)

Have a look at this from Google's Scott Lininger:
[flash=648,480:bv38o60b]http://www.youtube.com/v/FALvwBN5-hc[/flash:bv38o60b]
especially from around minute 15, where the character is manipulated from the webdialog, i.e the object is being moved rather than the camera moving from scene to scene. This seemed a more natural and useful way to help use animation to analyse processes ... and that is why I am developing that idea as support for day to day work.

PS morisdov is a forum member - I'm sure he will be happy to help you with his proper animation
PSS I can give you the ruby code for doing the manipulation if your javascript is reasonably proficient to call it -

Thanks man! Tried it. Yay!
Anyway, am I right that you can only set position a single object in each scene?

Thanks Chris for the video! Didnt know SU can do such things. Way to go SU!
PS I will explore Proper Animation for now. I'm not really familiar with ruby yet. Thanks anyway!

SU doesn't but it does give the opportunity via ruby API and webdialog. I feel a bit guilty about making this sound complicated, so I made a five minute dead basic example. Extract both files to plugins folder and give it a whirl (for about 5 seconds).
