Great job! It's working great now.

BTW, there's still some purging that can be done and the option for shadows to be displayed "On Faces" is turned off.

          Great model

There are a bunch of extra lines and missing faces but it is fun to play around with!

Don't try this with Sketchup, your machine will explode.

I converted the .skp to .3ds, imported into Vue, added displacement to every building and then added 2500 trees to Central park, rendered in 6m 35s, using a basic spectral atmosphere.

Someone has an account on it?
I had create a free one and I just sent some files (3ds) to have the acces to download some files like manhattan or another models
maybe we can share this account together to have much more model to upload and so more download models 😄

sorry for the double post 😄 I forgot to edit

                                  hello everyone
i have been digging around internet for more detailed model and came across
a 3ds file with much more detail from central park to union square area
                                  (With topography!) 😮
i'm having trouble converting the file to sketchup for number of problems.

                                  1. scale is too small
                                  2. too much polygon count
                                  3. model is oriented in weird angle
                                  4. everything is on one layer but with each building grouped

i tried optimizing the file in order to import it into sketchup but after
two hours of importing, it came to an error 😠

can someone help me import this 3ds into skp format?

nnnnghn...... This beast has a zillion triangles...Su consumes 1.35GB atm.

And the whole thing is slanted at an angle. Will take some work.

I'm still tidying up bordominc's version (thanks very much for that btw) - slow progress so far... so many reversed faces. Have tried to organise in C4D but with little success.

WEll,.. I imporetd it with inches as units, (or was it feets...?) so the whole model was about 300mm long... made it look really odd since SU don't handle really small numbers very well. So I started a new file and tried to import with units set to meters, but then I got an out of memory error. Will try again today witha freshly booted PC.

Mind you, it helps having 4GB RAM installed.
