Hello, My name is John and am looking foreward to learning and hopefully, in the future, contribute. I am new to Sketchup. I use Autocad and am comfortable with it. I do woodwork and feel this program will assist me in my drawings.

As you do woodwork, I registered you in our Woodworking forum so that you can access it when logged in.
Also, a "beginner's tip" (as you come from Autocad) if you allow me: don't expect layers in SU to separate your geometry; they merely control visibility and the geometry on different layers is still interactive with each other.
Use groups or components to separate geometry instead.
