Extremely slow when creating layers

Hi,
I just downloaded SketchUp 7 on Macbook Leopard OS, 2.4GHz & 2GB ram. It is extremely slow or hangs whenever I try to create a new layer. In fact, it has been rather lagging. Is there a solution to it???

Before trying the fix included in the thread, you should try installing all the system updates from Apple, especially graphics-related ones, if you don't already have done so.
