      Good Morning,

On several occasions I have needed a chrome effect like you might get from Studio Max. Currently I have to use a flat metal or chrome looking Jpeg fill. Then I'll photoshop the chrome for a more realistic look.

Is there a way of getting this effect without using 3DS or another 3-D program?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Quite easy to do in Podium. Have your surface with dark gray or black , add high reflection and there you go.

Just remember to have something around for it to reflect, as a reflective surface without anything to reflect is just a flat surface, unless you have HDRI capability.

Thanks alot sepo. Used a simple pipe next to a brick wall and it looks awesome. took about 10 seconds to render.

I'm guessing that because I don't know what HDRI capability is, I probably don't have it. haha

If you have a minute solo.....What is it?

High Dynamic Range Image (or something like that) which is a global background and certain rendering software can interpret its lighter areas as emitting light. Practically like real life.

                Gai...
