Scenes
-
I am trying to design a stage set and thought I could use scenes to demonstrate to the director the sequence of set changes. However I find that, to put it simply. If I have a doorway in Act 1 and then replace it with a fireplace in Act 2, and make a scene of that. The scene I made of Act 1 has reverted to the fireplace
Am I expecting too much of scenes? -
Sounds like scenes should do what you want.
I think the easiest method for you would be to place all the props for each act on a separate layer, you can then change which layers are visible in each scene, thus controlling the visibility of props.

Hi,
Remus is right. What you need to do is to use layers but one more thing: if you only modify the geometry between the scenes,it will be reflected through every scene since there is only one set of geometry to show in any of them.
So what you need to do is to make two sets (better to group them individually) and modify one this way while the other the other way.
Now put one on Layer Door for instance and the other on Layer Fireplace. Then in scene 1, turn on Layer Door and turn off Layer Fireplace while in Scene 2 the other way round (or even better; name the Scenes respectively as well).
See attached example (where I made the whole wall structure a group but grouping can go in smaller units, too)

Also, don't forget to update the scenes once you have layers turned on and off as desired.
