GSU7 and Mirror Selection (Un-Resolved)
-
Every time I mirror components, SU crashes.
I tried RPEdit-copy and the same thing happened.
Please try using Mirror selection on the Bearing Mount in the attached file.

Note, I had the same problem with RPEdit. I found out the source of my problem was I had an old expired copy of RPTools. Once I remove RPTools and re-installed RPEdit, everything worked OK.

Thanks Ken, but I never had RPTools...

I assume that no one else has this problem. Any suggestions? Mirror selection crashes GSU even when I have two simple rectangles and try to mirror one around the mid point of the other.

Dik,
For what it is worth:
I downloaded your file, found the component and used my 'old' mirror plugin (Mirror.rb- Mirror 3.0 first made by Frank Wiesner, but tweaked by TIG since version 2,6......and still working very well, also in GSU v7 and available at any right-click action in my menu). Result: no problem at all, just a very nice mirrored copy in whatever direction/face I choose.
Maybe it is your RP...plugin, I never use it, so that limits my info.
Yes, I am a mac-user, but I have never heard of any issue about Mirror.rb on macs and/or PC's.
The only advice I can give is: use another ruby for your mirror-actions. -
Dik.
I managed to successfully mirror your model in all directions using the latest RPTools.
Possibly try removing your RPEdit and any other mirror tool then install the Trial RPtools and see if you have the same problem.

Peter,
Thanks for the advice, I had already tried removing recently added plugins to no avail. So, I removed all plugins, un-installed and re-installed RP-Edits, and it works. I added back those plugins that I use regularly, and it started crashing. I removed them again and put them back one at a time, and with them all back (unbelievably) it still works. I added back the plugins that I sometimes use and it still works. Still don't know what was wrong, but I'll stop there for now, I think I can function again.

Glad you got it sorted.
Odd that installing the plug-ins one by one did not create the same problem as putting them all in together -
If oyu get in contact with AdamB im sure hed be interested in finding out what the incompatibility is with lightup (as he develops it.)

I just installed LightUp v3.1a demo, and the problem came back. Un-installed it and the problem went away...
Later, actually, another test revealed that the problem still exists, even after un-installing LightUp and rebooting.

I am having this very same problem with mirror_31.rb crashing my SU7.
Everything was working properly and about 30 min into a model, SU started crashing every time I try mirroring something.
After several crashes, I tried mirroing again with the Outliner window closed and everything worked fine!
My guess is that after the model starts getting more complex SU can't handle updating the Outliner as efficiently in this case after using the mirror tool?Don't know if this applies to you Dik but it might be worth a check.
