"Not responding" crash returns!

When I bought my Vista laptop 1-1/2 years ago there was problem with SU and the nVidia driver. Many people reported that SU would hang when started from the icon. However, when started by double clicking on a SU file it worked fine. Updated drivers solved this. I recently purchased SU 7 and had it working fine alongside SU 6. Today the problem as described has returned. It also did the same with the my SU 6. I have rolled back drivers, reinstalled the latest drivers, removed and reinstalled SU 6 & 7, and tried every thing I know. I have not solved the problem. I now only have SU 7 on the machine, but still have to start it from a file. All other programs work fine. As I said this was an early problem with SU, Vista and nVidia. I cannot explain why it came back. Suggestions?
