Megabayt Problem
-
Hi everyone.
I have a big problem with megabayt in my drawings.
My sketchup drawing is 6 Mb so it is very hard to draw new objects. How can pass this problem. ?
Thank you for your help. -
Hi Semith,
Actually 6 Mb is not that big but of course, depending on your computer,it can already slow things down. Could you by any chance share the model with us so that we can have a look? You cannot attach a 6 Mb file here but sharing it via the 3D WareHouse is possible; than paste the link to the model here.

Thank you for your answer.
My computer's property is not good. I know it.You can download my project on this link. Is there any way for miniaturizing to megabayt ? Or what can I do ?

Well,back...
I's not the file size actually; it's the high poly count. There are too many heavy, high poly 3D components in your model. It's still not a big problem but create separate layers for your trees, billiard balls etc. and turn heir visibility off while modeling.
They are killing even my machine with a 3.8 GHz processor.

I understand you. You said that : Lost of 3d model bludgeon the computer.
Lastly , Is there any way to decrease megabayt to the file ? Can I alleviate my heavy drawings ?
My english not good, I am sorry... But I am learning with you.

What I am saying is that the file size (at least at THIS size) shouldn't affect performance so much. Displaying these high poly components is a bigger problem so you should put them on hidden layers and only display them when necessary (for export for instance).
You are already using a lot of components (instead of raw geometry or groups) which is the best way to keep file size down. There are no big image files either. Your problem is not file size but performance.

I understand your answer.
Firstly, I can HIDE the object , If I dont use. And we do not use the all of them in drawing.
Secondly , I can buy a new computer.Thank you.

As I said above, I have a reasonable machine now but even it is struggling with your model.
The smart use of layers and scenes can be very helpful. Watch carefully what one of our fellow members here, Chris Fullmer is presenting during the first quarter of this video.
All that is needed to know about tricks with heavy models.

The model will also be much more manageable and the face/edge count will be halved if you substitute 2D face-me components for the trees, flowers and shrubs. (from about 600000 to less than 300000 edges, for instance)
There is also the other problem with the 3D plants you are using. To save disk space, they are divided into many subcomponents that themselves have subcomponents etc (like leaf, branch, etc). This added complexity is also slowing SU down.
