      Hi guys!

i am new to this forum, love SU!!!

      here's a question:

I am trying to import a component from one skechup model that i did - cabinet handle, to another that i have created - a kitchen.

first, when i import the handle design into the kitchen, the entire design is being imported, including the planes, so i have to erase it and leave only the handle....any way to import only an object?

Second, after remaining with only the handle in the kitchen i cannot seem to attach the handle on the cabinet door, the handle won't leave the ground, and only moves on the floor's surface.

      Any ideas??

      Thank you!

You can just copy and paste your object, rather than importing the whole model.

Moving the handle from the floor to the cupboard should be really easy, so I don't understand why you're having problems. I'd guess that you should just make sure that you are moving the object by clicking on an endpoint when moving it, rather than trying to float it around to move it.

          Hi Yanivkin and welcome!

(John beat me but here are my 2 cents)

The case is that every component is actually a sketchup file. So if you have a handle component in a more complex model, you will have to "export" only the handle. Right click on the component and "Save as". Now you will be saving it as a separate SU model which then you can either import from the File > Import menu or place it into a folder under your Components folder in the main program directory of your SU application and simply insert from the component browser.

If a component is glued to a plane (like in your example), simply right click on it and "Unglue" so as to be able to move/rotate it into another plane.

          Gai...
