Autocad 3d to sketchup problems
-
Im new to the forum so excuse any legistical errors I may make.
Im having difficulty importing my autocad 3d model into sketchup via .dwg import. No faces are showing. I've used smustard plugins with limited sucess (I can get the faces but with extra, messy entities). I've tried 3ds export from autocad but couldnt get sketchup 6 to read it. Im unable to upload the .dwg file onto this forum, but any help/suggestions is/are welcome.

What kind of objects were used to make the AutoCad model? Was it made in AutoCad Architecture? (formerly Architectural Desktop) In that case it has to be "exploded" before importing it. It is done by using the Export to AutoCad function from inside a 3D window (using a plan view generates a 2D plan). Or, if your application has it, use the "AECOBJEXPLODE" command.
When importing, use the "Merge coplanar faces" option in SU to avoid triangulation, and be sure you have the correct import units.
