Trying to make an ADA ramp, not sure how...
-
Greetings all. Just want to say thank you for this forum, it has been a life saver for a new user like myself. I am doing a render of a large walk through and need to create a slope/gradient from one lvl of the structre to another. How do I go about doing this in order to not get a 3 foot ledge/drop off. Have exhausted my ideas and the search function so any input would be very much appreciated.
Not only is it a slope but it is not square either. About 6'5" across the top, 3'high on that end; 4' across the bottom and no elevation.

Kristoffer,
Post the model and perhaps you can get a response. There's not enough information in your post to see why it is a problem to make a ramp. How far apart are the entrances? etc.
As for ADA there are many requirements to keep in mind. One is that the slope of the ramp should be less than 1:12. You can start with the ADA guidelines (online). Or is it primarily a SketchUp modeling issue?

Thank you Peter. I would post it if I could. My problem is I do not know how to manipulate a slope or create one. Not sure what tool I would use for that, only have V7 free not pro. I have downloaded some scripts from this site that have helped with walls but could not find anything, except for a roof tool, to make a slope. Looking for how to go about making a slope any slope will do for what I am currently doing, just need the ground to slope down and I cant for the life of me do that, but I keep trying haha.

Hi Kristoffer, hi folks.
See attached SU file for ideas.
You need to gives us either the length of the ramp or its slope to do a better tutorial.
Also, the shape would be usefull. In my tutorial I used a simple shape.

I have to say that I might just LOVE you, lol. That is exactly what Iwas looking for, thank you. Now I see why it was not working. I cannot enter numbers directly into the VCB for some reason, may not have the right script for it(this is not what my problem is I just realized that I could not when I was going along in your tutorial). Thank you again.
How about this one. Is it possable to take an image created in sketchup, I made a set or rail car tracks, can I select them and use a tool similar to the one in photoshop that will curve the straight track uniformally in order to put a cure in it? Or should I just export it as and .obj file and then open it in photoshop and make the changes then reimport it back into sketchup?

Hi Kristoffer,
You need no script or anything to be able to make entries into the VCB. One suspicion however; don't click into it - just type as you model (see the typed numbers appear) and hit Enter.
Your other question; there are no "native" SU tools to curve or bend eisting geometry - you'd rather create everything to have the final shape.
