Well i finnished the cottage, great learning experience. The roof material made by Solo only thing here is the lantern, really don't look as it should have, but ok πŸ˜‰

To me, all the building textures excluding the exposed stone texture are poor. The render/plaster texture to the front elevation is overscaled and should in my opinion have areas of the rough stone texture returning round the corner to make it look more authentic. the clean edge of the geometry just doesnt do the image any favours so the textures should be adjusted to help achieve the aged look that you are trying to achieve.

What exactly is the roof material?

If Complete is anything like Infinite, then you will be very happy - they've made some improvements (it's easier creating waves now) and they've cut down the rendering time quite a bit.

Complete is an in betweeen version from pro and infinite. It has all i need and is cheaper then infinite. I know about the waves and new terrains. Faster render times are nice to hear πŸ˜‰

I am very intersted to get Vue 7 after trying the demo. But I am afraid it won't really work out well with Sketchup 7 on OSX. I do mostly architectural work but obviously architecture is about nature all the time. So Vue should be potentionally a big time safer when it comes to spice up a building model.

Just did this with Sketchup and Maxwell http://web.me.com/fillieverhoeven/bouwen/rabobank.html , it was a nightmare to do. Maxwell gives nice results at great cost in terms of time. Maxwell is so extremely difficult to use we no longer regard it as an app to make a profit with in architecture. I wonder how Vue would compare.

I am hoping Vue is going to safe me time. Does Vue also import camera positions so you can do most set up work in SU. And does Vue also handle bigger models up to 50Mb and more. Anyone experience with Vue 7, SU7 on a Mac ?
Any help is greatly appreciated before we buy Vue.

frv, Vue will not import camera setups from SU. How well Vue handles a large model is somewhat dependent on your computer, but it shouldn't be a problem. Whether or not Vue will save you time is subjective to how proficient you become on the program. I've never used a mac, so sorry I cannot help you there.

                              Hey Mannie,

I like your image. With a little tweaking it would be even better. I think tweaking the atmosphere will make a big difference. There is such a big hard shadow from the tree in the foreground, it would appear the sun is shining brightly. However the sky beyond the trees is dark and overcast in appearance. Correct the sky and add some more detail to the building and you'll have yourself a very artistic render. Keep up the good work!

Thanks. the shadow indeed is to hard, although i have used the soft shadow map. Could have done that diffrently to make the shadow even softer

I think with some more detail in the model, this will look cool... i think that's what's lacking for me.. at the moment.. great job though... wish i had time/motivation to mess with vue..such cool results
