Somebody, i am going a bit crazy!!! i need a bit of help... i am trying to create a map, you see. i am making it as a square, however i would like to eventually put it onto a sphere as though it were a planet (this is for my SketchUp World Project). if anyone knows how to do this (or would do it for me) that would be greatly appriciated!!! i have tried soooooooooo many different things, and they all end up with me... incredibly frustrated....

Taff,
thank you for showing me that! while it isn't exactly what i needed for this particular project, it will prove to be helpful for other things i will be doing. thanks again! -
Nate,
IMO that is exactly what you need; every image file is inevitably rectangular. With UV Tools, you can map these rectangular image files spherically onto a sphere.
If not this is what you want (assuming from your post), what exactly is?

You were particularly specific in your initial plea for help. You want to transfer a rectangular map onto a sphere?
The UVtools plugin is the particularly-appropriate means of quickly and easily doing so!Note that the referenced discussion is many pages long. Did you review all posts in the thread, on the pages subsequent to page one?

Nate,
I suggest you download and install the plugin, UVtools. See this discussion about the tool, and how to use it. Note that it may still be a work-in-progress. Be sure to read all the posts in the discussion, to fully understand how to get the tool to work, as there are no other instructions. All issues are, however, covered in the discussion:

It's a great tool! (Thanks, again, Whaat.) I even added, to the above discussion, one of my experiments with mapping a globe.
Regards,
Taff
