Pdf's in scrapbook misbehaving

when i place our company logo as a pdf in a scrapbook to be reused, it gets tripped up when it is draged into a layout file. the pdf shows up properly in the scrapbook file (vector based and scale indepndent), but when pulled into a layout from the scrapbook it becomes a low res raster image...other folks having this problem? any ideas, workarounds, or other vector formats which might work?
am using SU7 on a mac with OS 10.5.5
