Animation issue

Hi everyone,
I've been using SketchUp for a while, but I'm new to making animations. I'm trying to animate a walkthrough of an interior courtyard, and I've been running into the infamous "shadow flashing" problem. After searching the web, I've found some people saying that this problem didn't exist in SketchUp 4, and that it's possible to create an animation in SketchUp 4 with a model from a newer version of SketchUp, avoiding the shadow problem.
My questions for the board would be:-
Is this true? (And if it is are there any special tricks or problems to be aware of?

Is it still possible to download SketchUp 4? I looked around but I can't seem to find it.

Yes, it is true and it should work.
Im not sure where youd be able to get a download though. Id guess your best bet would be here, or possibly the google groups forum. You might have to be careful about 'pirating' it though, as it was a commercial piece of software.
