XP SP3

I still haven't gotten up the nerve to install it myself (heard some scary stories) but when I do I'll read up on it.
Here are some good links

Only thing I've heard of is that some AMD based machines end up in an endless loop of BSOD and restart. Happened with my brother. You might want to check your hardware if you got an AMD machine.

All three of my 'chines installed SP3 automatically - i haven't noticed any changes.
My machine at the office just updated itself and the only issue is it raised the "security" settings for intranet access up a notch. Had to use Internet Explorer to reset that setting even though I never use IE. So much for a separate OS and browser!

I had that once with Win95-have relied on Intel chips since then.
Thanks everyone for the insights

I installed it this morning and it hosed my ArcGIS 9.3 install but no affect on SU.

What I heard that lately some people reported bugs that SU says that their evaluation period has expired and SU does not recognize the license. Some GSU Team members suspected SP3 being the culprit because the whole isue started when most people started o install it but it has never ben proved.
You can still use the fre version

I have two AMD machines both with XP SP3. No problems with either of them running SU but for some reason, on the newest machine (about 6 weeks since new) SketchUp shows in the running processes in the task manager after closing the program. Doesn't hapen in the older machine but someone suggested it has something to do with SP3 anyway.

I have 2 machines that still run XP and both have SP3 upgraded without any glitch or issue, one of them is an AMD too.

That happened to me on my main workstation. In fact it is still down now because I have not had a day free to get it sorted.
I have read it requires a full re-installMy system runs an AMD 64 3200

My brother could not find a fix to it. And none of the potential fixes I dug up on the internet applied either. He reinstalled the system and blocked the SP3 upgrade. Strange that it should all happen to AMD machines. Hope there will be some fix out for the various problems along with an announcement so people know when they can install SP3 again.
