Hey guys, was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I've been having with SectionCutFace.rb V2.0

Anytime I try to use this ruby i get a bug-splat, even on the most simple of shapes!

I've tried restarting my computer, tried deleting the ruby from my plugin folder then reinstalling it, and i've also tried older versions of the ruby (V1.7 i think), but each time the result is an extremely quick bug-splat!

I have no idea what's going on as i haven't seen anyone else with the same problem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers!

Sounds like there is another ruby that is conflicting with it. You might try removing all your rubies, then put section cut back in. Then run SU and see if it works. If it works, try reinstalling other rubies 1 by 1 (or maybe in small groups) until you isolate the culprit. At that point you have to choose which ruby you want more. section Cut face, or the one that is conflicting 😄 Maybe post your findings here and the authors can work out a solution.

or maybe I'm way off base with my guess.

        Thanks Chris!

I just tried SectionCutFaceV2.0 on my work computer (which has way less rubies installed) and it worked fine first time.(Cool script BTW) So i'm thinking that your guess might be spot on. I'll have a look at it when i get home, but it might take a while cos I've got stacks of rubies in my plugins folder.

So i found out the problem i was having was because of the "EIS environmental plugin". After removing it SectionCutFace worked fine.

I also found out that the zorro tool in the SubdivideSmooth plugin was also being effected. It also kept blugsplatting (which was abnormal) but when i removed the EIS plugin it worked just fine.

I know absolutely nothing about ruby but I'm guessing something must be up with this plugin. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

Anyway, it's all good. I just removed the EIS plugin and everything's sweet. But perhaps the relevant authors might want to take a look!?

Thanks again for your suggestions Chris!

And since i don't post a lot, a massive thankyou to all ruby scripters who might see this post! Seriously you guys are insane! Love your work!

I'm going to guess its a problem on the EIS scripter's side. But maybe not. I don't know who made that one. Maybe if they are a forum regular they can sit and chat with TIG (did the section cut face, right?). Anyhow, glad its working now!

There are a couple of plugins that I know of - both by 'proper developers' - that rewrite certain built-in methods [they don't need to !], which then causes unexpected clashes with other scripts. One I know of is 'Demeter' - this is similar to 'EIS' so perhaps they've got some common 'bad' coding in them...
