Can sketchup be used for 100% accurate sun studies?

As the title says, can this really be used in an architectural environment for planning and rights of lights studies?
Many thanks.

I think this question was asked a couple of releases ago; and the concensus seemed to be that unless there is something wrong with your setup then yes...it's about as accurate as you could hope for.
I used it to test for shadows on a new-build squeezed onto a rather small vacant lot at the back of my own property. I suspected (and SU confirmed) that our house would shade the entire lower floor of the proposed property right through the darkest winter months. Sure enough..... -
Also, Jim Foltz made a plugin that "Plots the path of the Sun usinng Construction Points."
It may be useful if you are thinking about such things.
