Hi! iRender vs Vray?

Hi all!

This forum is worth much more than years of study!

My first question - Which is better? iRender or Vray?

I've been using Vray and it seems to be ok to learn whereas iRender seems more user friendly

Hi EE,

This is always a hard to answer question as some people are more familiar with this while others with that application. The conclusion of such comparisons has always been that you cannot really compare rendering programs.

So I won't answer you but if others chime in, you will se that the above statement is right.

There's no doubt that iRender has a more intuitive and thereby more userfriendly approach...
Having said that, I'm sure many will agree with me when saying that Vray is a well known application and have almost a "de facto" status within rendering software...

Perhaps you should look at something in between...?!?
Podium is generating some high quality renders, but is also well known for being very userfriendly..!!

I'm gonna teach myself both Vray and iRender

Podium is another EE friendly prog indeed..i've used it for 2 years now and was wanting to go more 'professional' with more 'name brand' renderers such as Vray etc

Well having had a go at Podium, Vray and iRender I'd have to say Vray is without a doubt the best renderer out of the three. The so called steep learning curve applies only when you want to do advanced material manipulation like refraction etc. You can just press render without any change to setting and due to having a global illumination setting by defualt the results are always decent. Also Vray has a very good and active forum for learning how to do advanced stuff.
