Animation for Games
-
Hello fellow Sketchup users,
I'm a game developer using Sketchup as a level editor for my own independent games. So far, I'm really impressed with the results. I haven't been using it for that long, so I don't know most of the ins and outs of the program, but I like what I see. My question is if through Plugins, could SU be used to create animated models for games? For example, could I create and animate a character in SU and use them in my game? -
At this point, there is nothing that could do a good animation in SketchUp. SketchUp really doesn't anmiate things. People are able to fake animation by creating zillions of copies of an object and moving each copy to its own layer and then sequentially hiding and unhiding layers to make the object look animated. But it can't do an animation like you would need. It has no way to export an animation file that you would need to import into your game engine. I am guessing there won't be any plugin any time soon that would bridge this gap either. Though I would love to be proven wrong.......ruby guys?

Thanks for the heads up. I'll just go with plan b, which is make the mesh in SU (easier that way) and import into Milkshape for animating.

I saw this video on I/O ruby scripts
Does anyone know where to find the scrips to make a SU model into an interactive game?
