SketchUp Mac to Pc Help
-
Hi all, please could someone solve my problem.
I have drawn my sketchup model on my mac Powerbook (SU 6.0.1145) and now I want to import it to a PC (to render in Maxwell). The SU on the PC is the most up to date version. I thought it will open fine, as they are both SketchUp Pro. However, the "unexpected file format" message comes up...
Surely I don't have to dwg or other formats and then import it into the sketchup on the pc?

No,you shouldn't need to convert the file into any other format. There must be some problem with that file. Can you share it?

Hi Gaieus,
Thanks for the reply. I've attached the file below, please do let me know what you think. Perhaps the contours messed up the model?

Hi William,
Unfortunately I get the same error. Can you still open it on Mac? If so,try to go to Window > Model info > Statistics and at the bottom: Fix problems (at least that's where it is on Win).
If this doesn't work, you can also copy and paste all into a brand new file.If you cannot even open it in Mac, try to rename the backup file (with the skb extension) to skp (archive your original skp file first) and see if you can open it. We can also file this corrupted one in to the GSU Team - they can often recover corrupted files (while also investigating what may have happened).

Your file will not open on my mac. I get an invalid file pop-up.
Something is seriously wrong with that file.

I am getting similar issues, my model is done on a MacBookPro, 10.5.6 and sent to a PC machine with one gig of ram.
they downloaded Sketchup and cannot open the larger model 11.8megabites, but can a small handrail model..
I have sent this to another mac machine and it opened fine,
we did the window>model info> statistics thing, it said everything was okay
still having issues with the PC machine being able to open the larger model.
any body got any ideas what to do???
thanksred
