Good stuff, i couldnt really tell from the article, but is it some sort of motion capture system that is then applied to a mesh?
-
what do you mean Remus ?
its impressive, yes.
-
Well you know how they have an actor in a suit with loads of little white balls on it, so they can capture their movement and apply it to a mesh, i was wonderin if theres something similar going on here, except on a more advanced level.
-
I did not know anyone could be interested in those except for gravity or something
do they really investigates those things now ? -
Damn... thats awesome! Did you happen to see her when they showed the specular map on her face? That was kinda frreaky...
-
you are absolutely right, remus. as I understood it, they use the same idea behind motion capture, only that they use single pixels as trackers - which means dramatically increased precision for tiny movements of the skin and at the same time less preparation and a more comfortable procedure for the actor.
so basically it is like covering the actor's whole face in markers.
for comparisson. this is how the old method looks like
