Serrot Kind of Bot,
Jack bird into this, but must share that it doesn't much match my notions of "Robot..."
Not that I'm a Jack action expert, but I typically think of said machines as being a good bit movable (and capable of vomiting motor oil from there bulbous heads... rather there mouths located on there Jack bird bulbous heads...), and that they might have a few moving parts.
However, that said, there is that very sad Dr. Who robot deal... I think it's called a "Dilk," or a "Donkle," or perhaps a "Dunkhole," whatever the case, it rolls around an looks a lot bit like this....
Speaking of said robots, let me take this moment to repost a bit of this:
*"Bring the high-tech methods, you funky thaumaturge of space battle.
Your action is on, a thing I orbit, a thing of interplanetary penetration, and lust.
I want your thought glands, your nuggets of inspiration.
That dude George Lucas is now such a pathetic writer director, that his latest three horrifying films actually created a rip in time allowing him to go back to 1977 and destroy the original STAR WARS film.
What clumps of junk.
And that dumb little kid he brought in to be slave boy? What kind of slave lives with is mom, and gets to make cool crap out of junk all day long?
The little wiggler should be living in a ditch covered with a steel grate, and there should be all manner of retched scum and villainy tapping there flu shanks onto his noggin.
No fun robots -- just dirt, and bugs.
Going.
Going on it.
And, film two, or was it three, when some day to be Darth Vader, spins himself out into the desert to find his mommy bags (why he left her there on sad planet for so long is a whirling bit of confusion as well, but smoke what you have, or bum one), and he goes all “I’m a blood lusting mad killer, I’ll eat your little brains, the brains in your dangling skin sacks,” on the sand people... Who cuts the action there? Who cuts away from Anicananny’s homicidal blood letting of the retched sand clan?
George “I once knew how to make a film” Lucas.
And how do the funk brother Jedi knights get to use the force to cheat that crazy flying bug gland man deal, out of the greasy slave boy kid crap.
That’s not killer, it’s stink hole."*
Well, that's a good bit of bring it.
Durant "smell test" Hapke

dear Durant,
unfortunately I have to agree with you, that George Lucas was wrong in thinking Episode I is supposed to be a naive children story. Anakin Sucks with his "ooops I saved the world" behavour.
In the second movie I hated Hayden Christensens performance. this little stubborn adolocent shall become the most powerful Warrior of the imperator?
the third movie was better, allthough way to short to tell Anakin's journey to the dark side.however, there were elements I really liked in that movie; Darth Maul for one was awesome (even if a bit too obviously diabolic). would have liked to see more of his double blade action.
Ms Portman has allways been an eye catcher and added a bit of beauty throughout the second trilogy.but what I really loved about all three of the movies, what made me whatch them over and over again, was Ewan McGregor, a worthy successor of dear Sir Allec Guinnes. his ben kenobi was so charming, serious, powerful, cheeky... he made half of the movies - the other half was amazing SFX!
but, Durant, I know exactly what you mean. I would have liked to see the first half of the Star Wars saga in a more sinister, dirty, realistic way - a bit like nowadays James Bond is reborn with Daniel Craigs performance or Batman is told in the right manner for the first time with Chris Nolans Dark Knight and Christian Bales great performance (who else would fit character like Bruce that well - just remember some of his previous movies, The Machinist for example)
sorry, serrot, for jacking your thread
Jakob
PS: have you seen the "Firefly" series, Durant? or the first cinema appearance "Serenity"? great, fabulous, exciting - the best character of the old Star Wars movies, Hahn Solo, transferred into a dark, allmost realistic future of our universe... some great hours of film!
