Stuck in "X-Ray" mode?
-
Hi, I'm a newbie.
By default, when installed, SketchUp seems to be in a view mode where boxes, etc are bluish and NOT transparent (which is what I want). I seem to have inadvertently entered a transparent "wire frame" mode. I don't know if this is true "Wire Frame" or "X-Ray" modes as in Menu>View>Face Style>. I've tried all of the options on this sub-menu and it doesn't seem to help. I don't think it's a graphics card problem. "Open GL > Fast feedback" is off.Does anyone know what/where the setting for this is?
I'm using Vista Home Prem, and SketchUp free version 6.4.112.
Thanks! steve -
It seems as if you have turned on x-ray on your face style.
View/Face Style/ then un-check x-ray.
You can also turn on your Face Style toolbar and control it from there: View/Toolbars/Face Style
Your face styles allow you to view your model in many different ways:
Wireframe, hidden line, shaded, shaded with texture and monochrome. X-ray will toggle on/off in any of those modes as well. -

Steve,
You may have to go further than this, and disable "Use hardware acceleration" as well.
This will slow down SketchUp (sometimes, terribly.) How much it slows down will be dependent on the CPU speed. Disabling hardware takes the GPU out of action.
Ideally, an updated graphics driver would correct the problem (this is an OpenGL-support deficiency.) Sometimes, even an older driver works better. This has been demonstrated by the SketchUp team (and falls within my personal experience, as well):
Is Something Wrong with my Display?

Yes, Clearing the "use hardware acceleration" seems to have fixed it.
Thanks very much! -steve
