Simple Rendering

Im actually not quite sure what it is. I just saw it on http://www.archive3d.net/ and decided to render it and try to get better using HDR and Depth of Field with vray. But thanks guys for the feedback.

Getting in the spirit of the upcoming season, heres one more. Hope this doesnt piss anyone off. But anyways, HERE WE GO STEELERS!!!
-
Cool images. Maybe it's some sort of orrery?
-
Haha... are you predicting another super bowl run? All though I think the Steelers are contenders... I do not think they will make it past the Patriots (of course)... San Diego is looking good... and since the Jets now have Favre, they should give you a run! I am of course a PANTHERS fan baby... I know go ahead and laugh! But with Jake coming back and our O-line weighing in at just over a TON... we might get back to the dominant running game we've been missing! Jonathan Stewart is a big addition and I cannot wait to see him play! FOOTBALL is here baby!
Ohh... you should add more segments to the ring on the steelers logo, looks good otherwise!
-
I love the DOF in the top set!!! Hey Bubba, good catch on the segments. I didn't even notice it at first!
-
Thanks guys for the feedback
Bubba: Yeah the Steelers are gonna have a tough road ahead of them. Going into the season, they statistically have the toughest schedule...its brutal, but it should make for some good football to watch. And the Panthers to me are one of those teams that if they are good...they are great and are right up there contending for the super bowl, but look out when they are bad. They just need to get steve smith on the field and out of suspension...but I guess he is going to miss the first two games right? Oh and about the segments, I completely agree...is there a ruby or tool out there that will add more segments to something like that?
-
I'm not sure about the ruby... but I'm sure it wouldn't take that long to just redo it with more segments!
I don't think their is a need to worry just yet about Smitty missing 2 games! We got the Moose back and with the acquisition of Hackett our receiving corps is pretty deep. This will give Jake time to jell with his other receivers because we already know what Smitty is capable of! Your steelers really do have a tough schedule but if you can keep your RB healthy along with your defense I see no reason for yall not to make the playoffs! Are you ready for some football?....
-
if you to make picture no.2, try to setting your vray option - camera - set the dept .of field and focal length . i'm i right
-
the background is black, do you set disable environment background, enable environment GI and enable environment reflection with HDR image?
-
Steeler Shadows,
Not so sure about said ball of boot drinking action, but the killer cool machines with bubbles is totally on.
I've spent my time around hand waving sports enthusiasts, and it's Jack bird all good by me...
That said, I trust you understand that there is a cultural "registration" going on in a small bar while "cave dwellers" all breath together, swig golden cold ones, and mach eye movements while watching the actions on the luminous screens of pleasure.
This "registration" leads to a sense of group think and the excitement of mirror neurons...
Not at all bad, but the heightened sense of "bring the Jack bird ball into the score area of the field!" can damp down higher brain functions, and lead to "meat puppet" communications -- this is a danger -- be carful.
That said, follow sweaty sports events with adult films, and more drinks.

Rufy: in the environment settings, I inputed a HDR in for the background and GI and make sure under UVW u check environment and then let it run
Durant: Thanks for the poetical feedback....I hope I get what you were trying to say, but none-the-less I love football, even if it makes me a cavedwelling, drone sitting in front of the tv, drowning my brain with beer. I think you will find plenty of people on here that enjoy doing that from time to time, if without the football part. But I enjoyed the wise words . Ill be careful

Ok here are some more simple renderings. I had some fun with sub+smooth and different textures. Hope you like them.

Really cool man! I still haven't gotten subdivide and smooth yet... I'm hoping to get it real soon so I can have some fun like this! Keep 'em coming...

Ok my last one.

They are very appealing, in a strange sort of way. Nice grass btw.
-
I am deeply impressed by the lighting in this scene. the reflections on the floor are simply beautyful.
and the cable, running across the sculpture - great! may I ask how you modeled it?
-
The cables were actually just modeled with the follow me tool...i drew a path, which took a fair amount of trial and error due to all the different curves, and just used follow me to extrude a tube along that path. Fairly simple if you have patience with the path you drawing. But thanks for the comments

Pot Of Paris,
Yeah...
I find this green grass chebba pet deal pleasing as well...
It kind of makes me want to bathe with it...
But then there are those scary electric lights... Scary in the sense that I might get a Jack bird spark on me... A burny spark...
Perhaps I would just like to suckle on it... Suckle on the surface like a needy infant...
Yeah, that's working.

hold on hold on.... this is with sketch up? not 3d max? What is HDR and vray if you dont mind me asking.... I though I pushed SU to its limits with the built in stuff. I know there are several "rendering engines" availible but you have to apply the materials in thier programs which seems like a pain in the asss. let me know what is going on here!
-
Vray is a rendering plugin used for sketchup. It is similar to the vray plugin for 3d max but a little toned down from what I understand. But you can use SU materials or you can use vray materials...whichever ones you use, you will still need to tweak them cause they need different characteristics to look like what you want. I usually combine the two. Just google vray for sketchup and u will find out a lot more about it. Try checking out podium too...much easier to learn at first.
