    Hi folks,

I participate in the July/August competition over at the Indigo forum.
    The theme is "Imaginary friends".

Here's the Copy/paste of my entry post:

    Nickname: Kwistenbiebel
    Indigo version: 1.0.9
    render time: over night
tools used: Skindigo + Movie Maker + After Effects
    inspiration: a dream

I decided to post an animation as competition entry.
As I only learnt about the contest yesterday and time is short, I decided to go for the concept and make this a speedy 'scene setup' project. (the 'friend' model comes from archive3d.net ).
Setup time was 1 evening, render time a whole night.
I hope you like my 'Imaginary Friends' :

(As a note: the video is NOT suited for work ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Here is the link to download the animation (19 Mb):
    http://www.mediafire.com/?msgw8swegfh

I also posted a lower quality version on a Duth video host (The US based video hosts get weak knees when seeing some skin):

    Regards,
    Kwistenbiebel

Nice one kwist, did you texture the model as well? if so very impressive, if not very impressive.

Good choice of music as well, id watch the vid a few times just for that ๐Ÿ‘

I thought it was a bit unlikely, but great job anyway.

            Thanks guys. ๐Ÿ˜„

@Remus: I didn't texture the 'friend' model myself. As you know, sketchup just does not have the tools for this kind of texturing unfortunately. Still waiting for Whaat to come up with an improved texturing/Uv map tool.(yes , that is a request ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
I think a lot of people would love that, even if it would be a commercial script.

I hope this isnt too OT, but theres a pretty interesting debate here about nudity in art.

              Makes for interesting browsing.

Well I guess normal people can see the difference between an expression of creativity and pron.
                It is all about context.
(I hope this thread does not evolve into some moral discussion though)

Very well done, how did you manage to render a movie from indigo in one night with indigo?
I would have thought one frame would take about that time to reduce the noise!
Liked the music as well, can you let us know who it was?

                      Thank you JGA.
I let each animation frame render for 2 minutes .
In reality it took close to 3 minutes per frame, as for each frame a little 'warming up' time is required.
I used a 8 core Mac Pro which is a pretty fast rendering machine. Also rendering low res (below 640X480) and avoiding complex materials (glossiness, bump etc..) does speed up the process.
The song is called 'overpowered' by Roisin Murphy.

I never got the video to work, but I am guessing that there was some sort of nudity in it base on the comments.

Please if you post any nudity, at least add [nudity] in the title of the post. Then those of us who prefer to not stumble across it - porn or art - don't have to, thanks!

Actually I don't want to do that as it spoils the concept of surprise (who are my 'imaginary friends'?) but if it makes you happy, consider it done .

nice...can you explain in detail how you got the model textured? When i try to import the models, the textures don't come into SketchUp.

I believe in this case (=the woman model from archive3d.net ) it is impossible to import a .3ds import straight to Sketchup while holding the original uv-sets.

Therefore I used an ancient 3dsMax version to assign the textures in the folder to the model.
The updated .3ds model with textures in place imports better in SU.

You could also use software like Deep Exploration for that. It is very expensive though.
I wish Sketchup would have a much more enhanced import function, both for .3ds as for .obj (including .mtl files).
But I guess it is no use wishing for it, as many before me already have, some Su versions ago....
